About Dr. Tova

Dr. Tova Goldfine

For 30 years, I have been a practicing Doctor of Chiropractic and Rehabilitation with expertise in Aquatic Fitness/Hydrotherapy, Lumbar Stability/Back Strengthening and Correct Posture Therapy/Ergonomics .

The Chiropractic techniques, I use in my office are all gentle and low force methods: they are used along with various soft tissue and massage treatments. For Pain Management, I use different physical therapy modalities such as ultrasound heat therapy, electric stimulation, moist heat applications and cryotherapy. Rehabilitation consists of many methods such as water exercise, physio ball/fit ball, Nordic/power walking with poles, posture exercises with sticks, all these and more to accomplish better strengthening, flexibility, balance and endurance.

In my role as a doctor, healer and an educator, I am committed to teach/train the patient how to understand their pain, and learn to self manage with regular exercise, proper posture and better ergonomics at work and home. There is a greater chance now that the pain will not return and the patient will be functional on all levels.

In the last ten years of my practice, I have focused more on teaching my patients about correct posture, balance, abdominal and lumbar stability.  Most important is teaching patients  how to “fit fitness in” and how to make their health and well being a priority.

Decompress in a Compressed World

With life moving at a “warped” speed, we  try to compress as much as we can into 24-hours: our work, our relationships, and everything else.  This has a direct impact on our physical bodies.  The muscles, ligaments, soft tissues, and organs function at a lesser capacity causing “dis-ease,” which can lead to illness.  Your ability to think clearly and effectively, as well as, your emotional well being are also directly affected.   Gravity only adds to the problem.  This force that we cannot see, feel, or touch exists and it compresses our bodies at a rate of 25lbs per square inch.  For the average male at 5’9” tall that is nearly 1-ton of pressure.  That’s like walking around with a Volkswagon Beetle sitting on your shoulders.

There is a solution.

Learn how to decompress in a compressed world.  Posts on this blog will focus on giving you practical tips to improve your posture, balance, and your structural well being.  I will share my nearly 30-years experience to help you age gracefully and deal better with gravity.  It would thrill me if something you read here actually kept out of my office.  Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments, and I hope you will comment on the blog posts themselves.
